The 2024 Olympics in Paris had a very elegant, but eye-catching visual style. While I enjoyed it a lot, I worried that some aspects of the design didn’t perform as well as they should, prioritizing aesthetics over functionality. I set out to fix this issue, creating a new set of pictograms that captures the endless charm of the classics, while retaining the proud, geometric style found everywhere else in a way that is more easily readable at a glance - connecting with what the people already know. In designing my version of the logo, I wanted to pull in some aspects of the design style while cleverly building a system around it that is simple but highly versatile and uniform with the pictos, typeface, and overall style.
